The Story
How Simplance started
I’m Jacob.
I’m 16, and I built Simplance solo because I couldn’t find a finance tool for freelancers that didn’t assume I had an accountant. I read every support email. Most bugs get fixed the same day.
I started learning to code because I wanted to build things, not just follow tutorials. When I looked at the tools freelancers use to track their income, everything felt either overly complicated or painfully outdated. Spreadsheets everywhere. Accounting software designed for corporations.
I thought: what if income tracking could feel more like a creative tool? What if you could send proposals, track invoices, and see your finances at a glance? That idea became Simplance.

An honest answer
"Should I trust a 16-year-old with my finances?"
Every number Simplance shows you (invoice totals, expense categories, tax estimates) uses the same standards an accountant would: IRS Schedule C for expenses, the federal and state brackets every CPA references, and conservative defaults so you over-prepare rather than under-prepare. The product is built on those rules, not on a 16-year-old's opinions. If you have a CPA, Simplance keeps clean records that save them time at year-end. If you don't, the numbers are dependable enough to plan against.
